The Agreement on creating Polish-Belarusian-Ukrainian cross-border tourism cluster signed in Lutsk

The agreement was signed by the President of the Lublin Regional Tourist Organisation - Piotr Franaszek, Head of Volyn tourism cluster - Vasyl Baytsym, and the Chairman of the Brest tourism cluster - Georgiy Gribov during the conference "Development of tourism as a way to increase competitiveness of the region", which was organised within the project "Establishment of the informational complex in the sphere of cross-border eco-tourism in the Euroregion Bug" (IPBU.01.02.00-78-540/11) on 29-30 of October 2014 in Lutsk.

The event was attended by participants from Ukraine, Poland and Belarus, including representatives of project partner organisations and experts in the field of eco- and agro-tourism in the region. Among the participants, there were representatives of the Lublin Regional Tourist Organisation, Polish National Park Polesye, Brest Agro-Industrial Union, Brest Cross-border information centre, Brest Regional Social and Cultural centre, owners of agro-dwellings and officials of Volyn Oblast State Administration.

Experts at the conference discussed tourism development in the three neighbouring countries and importance of cooperation in this field. "Tourism ranks third in profitability of import and export operations in world trade," commented Piotr Franaszek. "And since today we talk about eco-tourism, it is important to concentrate efforts on creating a joint cross-border brand "Polesye", which will bring together the regions of Lublin Voivodeship, Volyn and Brest regions, which have many things in common in terms of natural potential, culture and history.

Therefore, signing an agreement on the creation of a Polish-Belarusian-Ukrainian cross-border tourism cluster was an important milestone for the development of cross-border cooperation in tourism. Creating a cluster is only the first step in the development of cross-border tourism. There is still much to be done in terms of the creation and promotion of the brand and making eco-tourism attractive for people. But strong partnership and joint efforts of people, who love their work, are a guarantee of good results.
